Hi,
I am looking for the marriage of William Brown and Eliza Hopper which took place in the Sep qtr of 1856 at Driffield Registration District.
Eliza Hopper's family lived in Middle Street, Great Driffield in 1841 and 1851.
Have the records for Great Driffield been transcribed? if so I would be very grateful for details of the marriage.
Thanks
Linda

Hi Linda
The page range for Driffield Sept 1856 is 379-404. Their number is 404. The first numbers in the range are those from the Anglican parishes in the registration district, the last numbers in the page range are usually those where the marriage took place at the register office or at a place of worship where the registrar was required to attend such as Roman Catholic. These records in the custody of the registrar are unlikely to find their way online so unless you can find another source for the wedding such as a newspaper announcement or online tree you'll have to bite the bullet and buy a copy from the GRO at Southport which will cost £9.25

Hi Dawn,
Thanks for taking the time to email a reply and for the info. Its very useful to know.
Following your suggestion to check the newpapers, I have found
Yorkshire Gazette 27 Sept 1856
On Monday, the 22nd inst., at Driffield, Mr. Wm. Brown, moulder, to Miss Eliza Hopper, milliner.
Unfortunately no place or parents names are mentioned, so I will need to bite the bullet and obtain the certificate to find out the details.

Hello Jackie,
Thanks for the info.
I think that could be my William. He was born Andover. Just waiting for the marriage certificate to arrive to show father's name.
Regards
Linda
