All in Eversley
Samuel Spencer born circ 1809 married Elizabeth Kimber 1832.
1 child that I know of born, Sarah 1834.
Samuel married again to Charlotte Yalden in 1838.
Is there a death 1834 to 1838 for Elizabeth, and is there a birth for Samuel abt 1809.?
TIA

There is a Baptism at Eversley
10JUL1808 SAMUEL SPENSER s/o GEORGE & ELIZABETH
There is also a Burial
16AUG1835 ELIZABETH SPENSER Age 29 ?
In the marriage entry for the marriage of SS to CY it states that Samuel is a Bachelor but gives his father as George.
In the marriage entry for SS to ELIZABETH KIMBER in 1832 the witnesses are GEORGE & ELIZABETH SPENSER
Hope that helps

Thankyou, Samuel was my g/g/grandfather.
Do the records have any mention of the marriage of George and Elizabeth ? and any other chn born to them other than Samuel?
They spent poss 100 years in Eversley from at least 1800 to 1900.
Samuels daughter Mary seemed to be the only one that I can find so far who emigrated to Australia.

Thanks Vic,
Now to head for the IGI and freecens to see what else I can find out.
I wish some of the other counties were as easy for research as Cornwall has been.
Thanks Again

Sorry, meant to ask what church did the marriage and baptisms take place in? and does it still exist.
Thanks

The church at Eversley is St Mary's, it was built between 1724 and 1735 on a site which has been used for 900 years. It still functions and I visited about 5 years ago.
The famous author Charles Kingsley was first Curate and then Rector of Eversley. It was he that baptised your ancestor Mary on 18 Sept 1842[ He also baptised my Gt Grandmother.]
There are photos of the church on the net.
Cheers

thanks Vic,
Assuming brides married in their local church, is there a marriage 1861-April 1864 for a William Maynard and Mary Spencer.
They both emigrated to SA in 1864 but in different ships, and both were single and with their families in the 1861 census, he in Berkshire and she in Eversley. I can find no marriage in SA for them and their first child was born here in 1866.

Sorry Dianne There is no marriage in the Registers
-
:'( Thanks Vic
That puts the subject to rest, the rellies are just going to have to accept the fact that they did not marry.
