Title: harriet caithness
Post by: glyn24 on Tuesday 26 May 15 16:17 BST (UK)
Hello everyone
Im looking for a harriet cathness or Caithness born in Brockton around 1799, or any other caithnesses around that area. I know she married  Thomas crossley  on the 9th march 1825 in tansley Derbyshire and she died in 1866 in tansley. On the 1851 census it says she’s born in Brockton Staffordshire. Any info on any caithnesses around that area would be most welcome
Thanks
Glyn

1841 shows born in county (ie) Derbyshire
1851 shows Brockton Staffs (should be Brocton I think)
1861 transcription shows Brackley Derbyshire but image looks more like Brockton Derbyshire

Marriage from FS https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KB68-N8J

The marriage on the 9 Mar 1825, Crich, Derbyshire, one record states Thomas Crossey to Harriot Cruthers. Now this may be a bad transcription for Thomas but Harriot’s surname is not even close. However another record transcription gives the names you state.

I did find Esther Caithness age 50 on the 1841 census in Stafford, no family, not born Staffs.
She died there in 1844. The name is strong in Scotland of course but also in other parts of England by this time.

I did come across this on FS, which might be worth following up:
Henriette Caicithness baptism Apr 1799, mother Ann Caicithness
ACTON TRUSSELL AND BEDNALL, STAFFORDSHIRE. (Right next to Brocton)

There's also a baptism of a John Stubbs Caithness, natural son of  Ann, in 1801 in Milwich - abuot 11 miles from Brocton

Thanks everyone for your replies
this might give me something to work on, especially the two with ann as the mother. i have seen the one about henrietta before and was wondering if it was a misspelling. thanks again and if you see any more just put them on here
