Hi all,
My 4x gt uncle Joseph Insley (b1817 in Hartshorne) married Hannah Shaw at St George's Church, Ticknall in November 1843. However, familysearch has two dates for the marriage. One being 19th Nov 1843 & the other being 27th Nov 1843.
I suspect that one or both are actually the date(s) of the banns, but which? What was the actual date of the marriage?
I have Joseph & Hannah with five children in 1861 in Blackfordby, Leicestershire. I haven't however located them in 1851 as yet. Can anyone help?
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards
David

Hi David,
There is also this record -
Joseph Insley
Marriage Date - 19 Nov 1843
Marriage Place - St Peter's Church, Hartshorne, Derbyshire, England
Spouse - Hannah Shaw
The above would appear to be Banns in Joseph's parish, therefore it would seem most likely that the marriage date is 27th Nov 1843

Bit more info :)
Looking at the marriage transcriptions for St Peter, Hartshorne 1843 there is no record for Joseph Insley's marriage. So it would be Banns that were called on 19 Nov 1843

Hi JJen,
Many thanks for the marriage & census detail/info, very much appreciated indeed.
Hmmm, interesting regarding the address in 1851. On the 1861 on FreeCen (RG9/2268/16/25) they have the address as: Cottage, Burtons Row, Blackfordby. Is Burtons Row actually Burton Road as in 1851?
Kind regards

Looking at the 1861 image the address is Cottage, Burton's Row, Burton Road Side, Blackfordby. So it would appear that the address in 1851 is the same as that of the 1851.

Hi Meercat & JJen,
Meercat, many thanks for the marriage info, much appreciated. The witness John Finney was my 3x gt grandfather who had married Joseph's sister Elizabeth.
JJen, many thanks for that, I had a feeling that it was the same address.
Have now located Joseph in both 1871 & 81 on familysearch now. This is despite them being transcribed as Moley instead of Insley in 1881! ::)
My thanks again.
Kind regards
David
