Hi all, I have been researching my Grandfathers naval service during the second world war with some great success, but I am struggling to discover much on his ships duties or theaters of the war. Also a big stumbling I have encountered is what medals he would of been entitled to? If anyone could shed any light on my grandfathers details that would be tremendous.

Service Records for anyone serving after about 1920 are still with the MOD.
If you apply to them for his records, any medals he was entitled to will be listed (I have done this twice recently for different people).
See: https://www.gov.uk/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records
There will be a fee of GBP 30.00, and you will need his death certificate, unless he died in service.

Hi to you both.
I obtained my fathers navy record some 10 years ago and its just a two page summary - list of ships and dates and not much else. No medal information at all. I have obtained a couple of army records and they run to many pages with lots of information. Was I just given a summary sheet and there is a bigger one?
I went to the National Archives and looked at the ships logs - this show where they were at the times he was on board, but not much else. It takes some planning to identify the records but I found it very useful to see where he travelled to
