An approximate timescale might help. Please also be aware that if it is recent, then names/details of potential living persons can't be discussed on the boards.

It helps if you provide details such as dates, census links, etc. in your post.

This might be the family you are looking for in 1901- John Killen with wife Eliza and daughters Lizzie & Meg (no Sarah or Mary), all but Meg born Hillhall:

Thank you, that is the family. Both John and Eliza (Jane) Killen died 1902 but can't find where they are buried. Son John (Electric Street 1911 Census) died about 1915/20. Don't seem to find anything about Lizzie Killen or Meg Killen. The mother's maiden name was Jane Mahood also from Hillhall. According to 1901 Census Meg was only 22 and Lizzie 38, but don't appear on GRONI, Lizzie would be before registration took place but Meg should have been after 1864 even if her age was wrong and she may have been 32. Daughters Mary and Sarah married and I have some records.
Thanks for your help
Margaret

John Killen married Jane Mahood in 1848 so it's likely that all the children were born before the start of civil registration in 1864 no matter what ages are given in the census records. As you can see from this extracted marriage records the ages don't match with the census and death records.

A John Killen died 30 Aug.1902 (age 85) and Jane Killen on 17 Oct.1902 (age 70).

That Jane Killen died in the Union Infirmary (resided 12 Sherwood St.) and was buried in Belfast City Cemetery (C1 525) and her age is listed as 60 years (rather than 70 which is on the death registration). Also buried in the same plat is a Stewart Mercer who died in 1890.

Are you sure that this Jane Killen is the Jane Mahood that married John Killen and the Eliza Killen that is in the 1901 census with John?

If you are hoping to make contact with descendants of Mary and Sarah it would be a good idea to post at least their birth, marriage and death details in case someone does recognise them.

There's a very, very long thread here saying that Thomas Killen, supposed to be a son of John & Jane, married, went to Scotland and changed his name to Cullen- be VERY cautious about accepting all the details posted.

I have information about Sarah Killen, she married a William James McLarnon (various spellings) 1885 and 1901 lived at Joy Street and 1911 lived at Cooke Street. Mary according to both 1901 & 1911 gave her place of birth as Scotland but unable to find that record. She married a Peter McLarnon was widowed 1891 but resided at Albany Street in both 1901/1911census. Don't know anything about the Thomas Killen who went to Scotland. Eliza Killen could have been Jane Eliza, Jane is her first name but went by Eliza, although on the death registration it is Jane. I need to check out if Meg/Margaret Killen married Hugh McKenna, 1911 census, she has a relative living with them Elizabeth wrong age but born Hillhall and is a weaver.  :) :)
Thank you

Hi,
Two unrelated sites give Sarah's marriage to William James McCLAURIN on 25 Aug 1885 in Great Victoria Street Presbyterian Church.
