Title: Katie GANE and Buckley Calvert ROCKELL

I am currently doing some research for my father in law, whose family originated from Essex, England. All four GANE children came to NZ as part of the Flock House farm training scheme. We are currently looking for more information regarding Katie GANE whom we believed married Buckley Calvert ROCKELL. Buckley's sister Mona McKenzie ROCKELL also married Katies brother Stuart GANE.
Any information would be gladly recieved.

Ah, wonderful, thank you for that birth announcement, would be wonderful to connect with a living descendent, and so the search continues. I had found burial records for both Katie and Buckley on the Purewa Cemetery website also, just needing to confirm that it is indeed our Katie  :)

A search on BDM's for Rockell deaths brings up

2002/21383   Gane    Mona McKenzie    born 8/3/1902   aged 100Y

2002/19129   Rockell    Buckley Calvert    born 29/4/1906   aged 96Y

[Note:  Birthdate given at death = 30/11/1912 .... birth registered in the next quarter (and new year) of 1913.  ]

EDIT :   Above may be (mother) Kate's 2nd visit to NZ as she appears to have been listed on the 1928  - Auckland - Parnell electoral roll - at Speight Road (a widow). ??

Katie wasn't eligible to vote until she turned 21 :   Here she is before her marriage (with brother Purcell).

I noticed that there are a couple of GANE family trees on the ancestry.com website (though you probably need a subscription to the site in order to contact the tree owners ?)

However, one tree owner has also posted information to the following forum / site.

Hi Lu,
Thanks for all your help, we have recently discovered that Katie and her three brothers all came to NZ as part of the Flock House trainee farming scheme for Children of British seamen as they lost their father in WWI when the boat he was a pilot on hit a german mine and sunk. I had traced them all to the Bay of Islands thanks to 1935 census and then they disperse from there. I know the others have had family whom I hope to get in contact with and was hoping maybe Katie had a family of her own also. Thanks again for all the information you've been incredibly helpful.

At least one of Buckley Calvert ROCKELL's sons is still alive. Will PM Jo the details.

Not sure about Mona and Stuart GANE's family though.

Have quite a lot of information on the ROCKELL and ROCKEL lines.
