Annie Louisa Herschell, born 1896 in Birkenhead , was ( according to the 1910 census ) in a home for destitute women in Lancashire. How would I go about finding details of this ?
-
Annie Louisa Herschell b 1886 in Birkenhead, Cheshire (I think you typed 9 instead of 8?)
I can find this birth in the free bdm too
Births Dec 1886
Herschell Annie Louisa Birkenhead 8a 472
"the only record I can find then of Annie Louisa is in a home for destitute women in Lancashire when she was 16" - was that the 1901 census because that would be a birth year of 1885?
Where is the freebdm entry for the Annie Louisa Herschell born 1896 in Birkenhead?

Thanks Scoosh. Hercher sounds similar to Herschell, do you have any info. on the Herchers ?

HB, they're still about, Google, Hercher, Dingwall. Herschell maybe sounded too German, name changes were common. I hesitate to mention the Windsors here. ;D
