Gillbill,
Since he was an agent (and a farmer) you may be lucky enough to find him in a trade directory. You can search many of them on line at http://www.historicaldirectories.org/.
Hepworth is only a small place (pop. 923 in 1951 census).
As to the discrepancies in the wedding cert/census birthplaces, Hepworth was in the parish of Kirkburton, Hepworth Church not being built until the 1870s. So the enumerator probably put down the parish rather than the place since he had never heard of it. Lockwood will have been in Almondbury parish, I would guess.

I believe these are the Shaw's that I am looking for. Do you have a connection with them. I believe that James Shaw was my gg grandfather. I would love to chat if you have more information on them.

Hi, at last I've managed to log on. The James Shaw I think you refer to is my father-in-law of great aunt. His son John married Louisa Morris. Her sister married into a completely different Shaw line which is the my main Shaw ancestry.
Will be pleased to chat with you if we are talking about the sames James as I have several in my "Tree"

The James Shaw I was referring to, looks like the son of John and Louisa. He was born in 1840. Are you saying John’s father was also James?
Are you in the states?
