Title: Royal Naval Hospital (Lunatic Asylum), Great Yarmouth
Post by: jannergray on Sunday 29 March 15 20:07 BST (UK)
Hi everyone

I have an ancestor who was in the RN Hospital at Great Yarmouth from about 1880-1896 - he's recorded as a "lunatic".

Does anyone know if there are records for this Hospital/Asylum for this period and suggest where my ancestor might be buried if he died there?

Thanks

Graham

Following its closure, the Hospital's records were held by the James Paget University Hospital at Gorleston. They are now thought to have been mostly destroyed although admission registers for certain years are held by the Norfolk Record Office at Norwich.

this is on the above site just noticed it
