Title: Is he buried in Heckmondwike Cemetery?
Post by: broadysword on Tuesday 24 March 15 12:25 GMT (UK)
ADAM SAVILLE, died October 6 1884. Have been unable to locate burial details. There is a strong possibility he could have been interred in Heckmondwike Cemetary. Does anyone have access to the burial records or is there another way of finding out whether he is there. Any help would be most appreciated.

Kirklees Metropolitan Council Bereavement Services should be able to help. Their phone number is 01484 234060. My grandfather was buried there and they located his grave for me. Hope this helps. MJN

Inquest Huddersfield in the  Leeds Mercury newspaper Wed Oct 8th 1884

 Inquest Huddersfield-At the Sportsman's arms (Corner of John William street/St John's road and Fitzwilliam Street Huddersfield behind the old railway goods yard) regarding the death of Adam Saville aged 55 a cart driver, Saville went to the station to load bran, and 15 sacks had already been loaded on the cart from the upper room in the goods warehouse at the Lancashire & Yorkshire station (Huddersfield), when he had been noticed to fall from a landing about 8 ft from the ground. He died in about 5 to 10 minutes before the arrival of a medical man. As Mr Currie, surgeon at the infirmary could not say whether death arose from dislocation of the neck  or natural causes, there was an adjournment to enable a post-mortem to be made. Mr Currie having made the examination, found death had arisen from dislocation of the neck  and a verdict of 'Accidental death' was returned.

~~~~~~~~-------------------------
With the inquest held in Huddersfield and GRO registered death in Huddersfield, his address Paddock Huddersfield - Longwood cemetery, or St Marks Church graveyard Longwood, Paddock Church graveyard, St Luke's church graveyard Milnsbridge or Baptist chapel graveyard also in Milnsbridge are the likely places Adam is buried
Hi
I cannot see him in Paddock and Lockwood cemetery didn't open until 1902. If he went to the nearest cemetery to the Sportsman it would be Edgerton.
  Hello John. I enquired about Edgerton sometime ago and he was not there. I do know that his widow Sarah moved to Heckmondwike after he died as her parents and siblings lived there. I have almost exhausted all the HUddersfield Churchyards and municiple cemeteries and still cannot find a recorded burial. I am basically left with Heckmondwike and Dewsbury.I am going to have to ask the local Council to do a search because I do not have a clue where he is.
Regards, Andrew.
Hello John, am currently touring Louisiana and FLorida. Will examine what churches and cemeteries I have already explored when I return and see where I go from there. Ime sure I have covered all I can from Huddersfield but you never know.
Regards, Andrew.
