Hi everyone,
I ordered a death record and I am not able to decipher the writing in the "Mother's Name" field. I'm hoping someone here can give me a hand. Every possibility I think of is incredibly odd and doesn't sound like any kind of name I've heard of, or even like it would be a name. I've attached a picture of the relevant part of the document; hopefully the photo is of high enough quality. The photocopy I received isn't the highest quality in the first place, so that doesn't really help matters. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. :)

I read it as Hester Hawkins :)

Ditto :)

Thank you, I think that's right. I just looked it up and apparently Hester is a name (I've never heard it before, haha). Thank you both for the replies.

You will find the name Hester as Esther/Ester and as Easter,so be prepared for all versions ;D

Agree with all of the above. Hester/Esther seem almost interchangable - it possibly depended on whoever recorded the event as to what he thought he heard an his interpretation. :)
