Does anyone know what 24 Querns Hill, Cirencester was in 1943 Please. May have been hospital or mother and baby home as my husbands half-sister born there on October 21. Have found ref to a Querns Hospital.

Hi.
Yes, I think you're right. My great uncle died there of 'senility' in 1941 - it was not his home. The informant was 'S Bird, Occupier'.
A hospital or nursing home would be my guess.

Hi . thanks for that. it bears out what I thought. Funny that occupier shoud be a Bird as my husband was fosterede by a Bird family and later changed his name to Bird. Many thanks.

Hello Worshipper, I can confirm that there was a Querns Hospital, Cirencester. I was born there in 1949. Even though a hospital is still located on the originally site the name has changed. The link below indicates the site and name:

Not really sure if the link works??? So, in GoogleMaps it is Cirencester, Queens Hospital (W-Bound).

To whoever replied to Glosterboy yesterday thanks. I will try google maps.

Hello Worshipper, Yes, I realise that the "link" which I posted may not work. Therefore, I posted a further comment giving reference to typing "Cirencester, Queens Hospital (W-Bound)" within GoogleMaps search. Within GoogleMaps there are other references for the same property; these being Corinium House and Cirencester Hospital. I hope this helps?

Thanks. Happy Christmas to you.
