... and can anybody blow the image up to see what the trophy might be?
It's part of our family collection so I know it's a relative but I'm having a hard time identifying what the sport is? It's a sizeable trophy so if I can narrow down the year and figure out the sport, maybe I can determine who it might be ...

What type of medium is the photo on? How large is the photo? Is there anything at all on the backside of the photo?

Good question ... my father has the original(s)in an album we have recently inherited. I believe it's on a card but unfortunately much like most of the collection it is glued down onto the paper in the album. :o
I will be visiting my dad in June and will see the photographs up close then for the first time. Removing them without damage may be difficult I'm afraid. ???

Perhaps someone could enhance the photo as well. To me, there appears to be some medals pinned to his shirt and if they could be enhanced, that might provide some insight as well.

Hi Jim ... I think you are correct. I have boosted the image as best I can. Perhaps someone can make the pic more clear?
Thanks Jim

The only chance of dating this is going to be the format. We really need to see it uncropped, showing the entire thing including outer corners, and the back if it hasn't been glued down. There's just nothing to date otherwise I'm afraid, although it does remind me a bit of some weightlifting champeens of the 1890s :)

Hi Grunge...what we need to see is the entire thing, completely uncropped. We need the outer corners, outside corners, the outer edges of the physical object. Could you do that? I'm seeing just a tiny bit of one corner, but I can't make out enough to tell what kind of photo paper it is...
