Reviewing photos (quickly scanned when I had access one evening) I came to one of a couple I'd called 'Dorian and Roger Williams 1945' because of the caption handwritten on the back. But on investigating I wonder if it's Dorian Williams BBC Show Jumping Commentator?

though if you think he doesn't have the dimple then

Is it the same person? and if so I'll have to ask who 'Roger' is.

I do think it is Dorian Williams - the dimple in the chin would appear to be exaggerated by the shadow on the photo. No idea re Roger :-\

Thanks Kay,
If I'd called the photo, say, 'Dorian and Sam Williams' when I scanned it I could understand it was a transcription error and was probably 'Samantha' posing for a celeb photo. But I've no idea where 'Roger' came from :)
If it is Dorian Williams, which it seems to be, then as a BBC Commentator into showjumping, hunting and horses etc it could have been taken anywhere.

I've now discovered that Dorian Williams, born 1914 attended Hawtreys Prep School and that during WW2 that school was evacuated to Llangedwyn Hall - two miles from the cottage where the picture was found. Did Dorian become a teacher at his old school before his BBC career?

He wrote "Master of One : An Autobiography" which one site is selling for a penny plus postage which might answer your question

Thanks Kay99, bought it for 1p + postage found what I needed and gave it to a charity shop.
Dorian Williams actually inherited ownership of the school from a great aunt and then very soon it, and he, got evacuated due to WW2 to Llangedwyn Hall.

Lovely to have a resolution to this.
Thanks for letting me know

I came across your post while looking for my own "Roger Williams" ancestor today. This is very intriguing, and I'm curious if you ever happened to figure out who the mysterious "Roger" is?

Hi,
I'd forgotten all about this query; Thanks for asking but No, I never found anything more than as given above.
