Trying to trace parents of James Bell born Sligo. James was born November around 1929. Mother nee Dalton. Father from Scotland.
-
This could be the birth registration for your James Bell in 1930:

And a possible brother Paul in 1932

Yes, I have seen this record but it only gives the mother's maiden name.
-
I have never delved deeply into Irish records myself, but I am assuming you would be able to order the birth certificate on the basis of the information there. That would give you more information about the parents. Maybe someone else who is more familiar with Irish research can tell you how to buy the certificate.

I have just ordered birth cert on line. Thanks.
-
Would be great if I could find a marriage entry.
-
If you don't have any luck trying to find a marriage in Ireland it may also be worth trying Scotland if one of the parties was Scottish. www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk is the best place to search for BMDs in Scotland. It is a pay as you go site using credits, but if you filter your searches you can get quite a lot of useful information without having to pay.
-
Why not post more of the information that you already know?
-
Hallmark, I get the impression that Jaynekb is fairly new to Rootschat and still figuring out the best way to navigate the site and ask questions. I don't feel my time has been wasted in responding to her post.

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01ey2/ gets one all the Scotland born Bells in Ireland.. as you don't give any names, religion etc it is just all Bells.

I have just ordered birth cert on line. Thanks.
How much did you pay?
A research/photocopy cert only costs €4.
-
Thanks for your support Craclyn.
I will be paying £20 for a copy of birth cert ordered on-line.

Not to worry, It's done now. If you have any more to order you can get them a lot cheaper.
There is lots of help here if you need it.
Did you already know the mother's maiden name?
Do you know if the parent's married in Ireland?
Sorry I see you did know her name.
-
I found maiden name on familysearch.org.
-
I don't know anymore information, sorry.
-
When you get the Cert and have the parents names, let us know.
You knew James Bell was born in Sligo and were close on a year.
Do you have a marriage Cert for James, that would have his father's name.
Do you know if he had siblings?
-
Will have to wait for birth certificate. James had other siblings, John James, Paul and a sister. James is my husband's father and will not talk about his past. He joined the Welsh Guards and when he left the army he came to England. My husband would love to find more about his Irish/Scottish roots but his father will not tell him anything.

Just as well you didn't explain earlier, we are not supposed to use names of living people here.
When you get the Cert let us know if you need more help.
