Title: Buffaloe Lodge
Post by: swoodstree on Friday 13 March 15 20:59 GMT (UK)
Could anybody help me please? I have a couple of Lodge medals or pins and an apron from the 'Sir Frederick Sheard Lodge'. I am not sure which branch of the family it comes from so cant say which part of England it came from, Suffolk, Warwickshire or Yorkshire. I have Googled  it without success and emailed the RAOB who have not replied.

Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

A newspaper reference (Yorkshire Evening Post 1921)....."The Sir Frederick Sheard Lodge, No 1168, R.A.O.B., G.L.E., Leeds".  From the subscription list of the Boots Fund.

Thanks for the quick response 'nanny jan' that is the number on the pin as well. I don't suppose you have any idea who I could contact to find who it belonged to. all relatives moved to Leeds and I live in Leeds so that makes a lot of sense but don't know how Boots fit in. I assume that's the chemist.

Hi,

I think it was to raise funds to supply boots to the poor.  It could be that the Lodge is no longer active; if there are still Lodges in Leeds perhaps they could help you.
