Good afternoon,
I am looking to find out when William B WILLIAMS left the UK and went to NSW.
He was born 1919 Bristol and disappears after the 1851 census (I did find his wife & child staying with wife's brother in 1861).
I have had an email of a distant cousin, who is related to William, who told me he married Emma RUSSELL in Australia in 1864 and went on to have about 6/7 children, one of whom was called Arthur Rutley Williams, c1870 although she doesn't know when he arrived or when he died....
really appreciate if someone could locate him for me.
Many, many thanks

Hi there,
There is a marriage registered in 1870 in Victoria, for a William WILLIAMS and and Eliza RUSSELL # 323
Do you have your chap's parents names? This can be helpful info when looking for migrants to any of the six colonies.
Cheers, JM

A bit of extra info from family trees to help in looking for a death (the OP can correct this if it is wrong) - William's parents were William WILLIAMS and Harriet EYLES and in 1851 his occupation was 'Architect'.

Age is certainly not a match - this Wm born c1830...if it is your person of interest, he obviously told a few fibs.

BALLARAT, TUESDAY.
A PITIFUL DEATH. — An elderly man, of whom little is known, died at Pootilla to-day, under circumstances of a pitiful nature. He was found wandering aimlessly round a paddock, bent double with pain and in an enfeebled condition.......The deceased, who had only a few coppers in his possession, had told Hunter that he suffered from bronchitis, and had recently been an inmate of the Bendigo Benevolent Asylum. A couple of English newspapers and a few letters bearing the name of William B. Williams were found among the unfortunate's belongings.

Scotslink, if your contact doesn't know what year William married Emma RUSSELL then I am thinking they don't have the marriage cert. I would highly recommend getting a copy just to make sure he is the same person as your William.

still looking for Emma Williams (Skinner) death...I have her up to 1861 Bristol, staying with her brother Joseph skinner...with her is her child Emma Williams (16)......After this is proving a bit more difficult to find them, I am guessing Emma (daughter) got married and Emma (wife) died, just need to look a bit more harder.

-
I found his birthdate:
He was baptised 14 November 1819, so born then or prior.
His death date is possibly 1888, but this is unverified.
My aunt who did research before she died had this date (William B Williams was her grandfather)
-
Hi - I realise your post is regarding WBWs Australian links but I might be able to help you a little with his Bristol past if your interested. William started an apprenticeship as an architect under my ancestor Henry Rumley in 1834 but probably owing to my ancestor going bankrupt in c.1837 William switched to Thomas Foster from 1838. My ancestor took on at least 3 apprentices, including his eldest son between 1834 - 1836. Unfortunately I don't possess any further information on WBW.
-
Hi Rumley, thanks for your information.
I only have one child from William's first marriage and that was a girl.
Who was his first son that your ancestor employed as an apprentice architect?
I am interested in any information (Australian or English) that you might have to get to know my great grandfather better.
I also found his date of death - 1896 Collingwood, Victoria, Australia
-
Hi,
I actually meant that William Blackman Williams himself was employed as an architect apprentice. Apologies for any confusion.
-
Hi Cando
You posted earlier information on William Blackman Williams' arrival
Notice of arrival
http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article4789615
I have looked up this article, but cannot find his name in there.
Are you sure this is the correct article?
Thanks
Karen
-
Yes it is the correct article and it is the arrival of the ship with only the CABIN passenger named and " three hundred and forty-one in the intermediate."
This is the link that shows his listing on the passenger manifest on the CLARA SYMES

Hi Cando
I'm relatively new still to this (only 2 years searching), but it only says William Williams. How do you know it is William Blackman Williams?
I'm doing a course and they've taught me to verify everything. William Williams is a common name, hence why I've been struggling for a while trying to find info.
I do really appreciate your help as he's been a brick wall for sometime.
Kind regards
Karen

You have all the information to validate the research here on the thread....
