Title: Children of George Bell, Veterinary Inspector Ireland
Post by: grizzly1 on Tuesday 03 March 15 12:01 GMT (UK)
Im looking for a link to possible children of George and Nora Bell.(Ahearn)
Im unsure as if they had any children but what I do know is that George Bell and Nora  Ahearn married in Sandymount Church on 18th July 1911.

He was single and occupation Vet Surgeon, she was Spinster.
Fathers name's Hamilton Bell a 'Tutor'...Nora's Father James a 'Head Constable'.
His address given 27 Star of The Sea Terrace...her's 47 Star of Sea Terrace..

George died on 10th September 1945,he was a widower aged 67, I believe Nora died a few years before..they are buried in Glasnevin.
On Georges death cert it gives his sister Eleanor Catherine as Present at death at 19 Sandymount ave or rd.(illegible)

I searched without success the Birth registers in the G.R.O from 1912-21 for any children born to the couple..in fact I discovered that there were very few 'Bell' births in Dublin during those year's and there were only a handful on the Southside of Dublin.
I know its also possible that they may have been childless.

I believe George rose to the rank of Head Veterinary Inspector, I was hoping may be a photo available of him somewhere.?

Any info as usual greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dathai, By all accounts it seems that they had no children, I did know about his sisters in Australia, seemingly they were involved in the teaching profession.
what do you think GIC represents on the 1911 census entry for Nora.??

I've done quite a bit of research on this entire family and have numerous records I'd be happy to share. As far as I can tell they did not have any children. George Bell was attended by his youngest sister Eleanor at his death and she is the witness on his death certificate. She is also named as his beneficiary in his will. However his siblings Hamilton, Elizabeth and Samuel did have children. Let me know if you are still interested.
