This is a postcard from Munster 1 POW camp with Private Joseph Conn, 2nd Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, in the centre.
Regimental number: 10550
Date of enlisting 18 December 1911
I would like to find out where he enlisted, as there are two Joseph Conns in my family tree who were the same age, and I don't know which one this is. One was from Ireland and the other from London.
Hope someone can help.

unfortunately,,the two reference cards on the Prisoner of war site do not give any information that would resolve this,,,sometimes next of kin info is included,,but not in his case.

gortonboy, thanks for looking this up.

Hi Rob
Could you tell me anything more about the Joseph Conns you have?
I have a 3rd-4th cousin DNA match to a user whose listed Joseph Conn as their father and Mary McElroy as their mother.
Joseph is listed as being born 20th Jan 1917 (no place listed, but place of death as in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland 4th Apr 2004).
There’s no other family listed and I can’t find anything else to try and build my own tree for the Conn/McElroys to try and find my connection.
Any clues would be appreciated.

Hi Rob,
I've located the attached 3 medal cards which might get you a little further along.

Ooops. two missing....

The Joseph Conn in the photograph lived in London. His father was from Armagh, which is where the Conns I have information about were from originally. Joseph is a common first name in the various families.

Hi Rob.
The photo you have above of Joseph Conn has similarities in the face to my grandmother.
It may be a case of me seeing what is not there but I’d rather be wrong than be right and not follow this clue!
Do you have information on the deployments and other places the KOYLI were based or sent or visited?
My suspicion is that This Joseph Conn could have fathered my grandmother while on a brief stay in the area of Bideford in North Devon. Although it is possible my GGM may have been in a different area at that particular time, ie for work or visiting.
Would you be willing to share with me the Conn part of your tree? I can PM you my email address.
Would you have a DNA match to Joseph Conn, close enough to see if we are connected? If so, do you have a DNA profile on Ancestry or the like?
Many thanks
Anna
