The California death index says Jacob B. Reid died 22 Feb 1920 in Sonoma Co., California at age 86.
I found an obituary for Estelle Kemp in the Oakland Tribune. It mentions her late husband, son Gordon, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. No mention of siblings one way or another. Internment at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Santa Rosa.
I also found an article from 1946 about Gordon Kemp, his wife, and 3 young children being in a house fire, but all survived. The article has pictures of the children. A later article said that Gordon accused his wife of starting the fire and trying to murder him. This - http://www.newspapers.com/newspage/57412183/ - says "Gordon Kemp, Oakland real estate man who once accused his wife of attempted murder, settled for a divorce."
The Gary Gordon Kemp mentioned in these newspaper articles - http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=39386269 - appears to be a son of Gordon.

There is a mention in the Oakland newspaper that Mr. & Mrs. Howard M. Hansbrow (nee Reid) honeymooned in Cazadero.
I found articles about Clara Elizabeth Hansbrow's death and funeral in the Oakland Tribune. It said she died suddenly while her husband was at work and an autopsy found her death was due to heart disease. It said she was a teacher in the Alameda School Department prior to her marriage. It said she was a prominent member of the First Baptist Church and was in charge of the primary class of Sunday School. She was survived by her parents and 2 sisters, Mrs. H.L. Kemp and Mrs. G.R. Preston. Cremation followed the funeral.

On the 1910 Census for Herbert and Elspeth it does say they had 0 children ??? The 1920 Census quoted Gordon as 11 years old - yet the death record gives a birth date of 13 November 1908. Could Gordon have been an adopted child ? Ethel is a mystery because she doesn't appear with the couple in 1920 ??? More questions than answers ::)

My grandmother Katherine Creighton was a first cousin of Ida Preston and Estelle Kemp (nées Creighton). Although Ida died before I was born, I remember Estelle very well. In answer to a few of your questions (I can't see the posts as I write, so I am working from memory):
My grandmother and her cousins were all the grandchildren of James Creighton II and Agnes Oliver of Nova Scotia. There were 30 grandchildren (19 girls, 11 boys). Sixteen of the 19 girls wound up either born in or immigrating to California, mainly Alameda and San Francisco. They were virtually the only ones of their extensive Creighton cousins to do so. Ida Bell Reid (Preston) was the oldest of her entire generation. I have many pictures of her. She was born and raised in the Boston area (principally Newton) where her father farmed. Please see attached.
Estelle (born Stella) married Herbert Kemp. Yes, they adopted their son Gordon on a trip back to Nova Scotia. I believe he was at least 8 at the time. The story was that Estelle went into the orphanage, expecting to find an infant, and this little boy ran up and threw his arms around her...
Estelle was a dear person and I am sorry to learn that Gordon and his son's lives were not as successful as might be hoped.
This is my extended family and I will be happy to answer any further questions you may have. --Katherine
