Thomas Phillips jnr was baptised 1792 in Uttoxeter, (believe this is my GGG grandfather) to parents Thomas and Ann. Can find the marriage of a Thomas Phillips to Ann Goostry or Goostrey but cannot trace any further back. Would anyone have access to records that show the parents of Thomas?
Also Ann's parents I believe were John and Ann (would like maiden name) and John's parents Samuel and Ann again would like maiden name. Thank you

Hello
Possible baptism for Thomas Phillips at Uttoxeter
Thomas Phillips 11.7.1742 to Thomas and Alice Phillips
Siblings Mary 2.3.1738 and Elizabeth 21.2.1745.
Burial for Thomas senior 30.12.1767 at Uttoxeter
Marriage at Norbury and Roston Derby
31.1.1737 Thomas Phillips and Alice Walker.
I know that is a bit early for their marriage in 1776.But there is a burial for Thomas Phillips 1.12.1829 at Uttoxeter age 87 which would make him born 1742.
Wife Ann buried 17.7.1791 .Son Charles buried 18.10.1791.
Thomas widower seems to have remarried a Mary Herring widow 11.9.1794 at Uttoxeter.Wit William Locker and Margaret LLoyd.
Possible death for Mary burial Uttoxeter 13.6.1826 age 74 so born 1752.
Possible first marriage for her Mary Carr 26.11.1781 to Athanasius Herring wit Dorothy Lee and J Smith.
Athanasius buried 8.1.1791.
Children John and Elizabeth 11.8.1782,Priscilla 25.11.1786 and John 24.3.1789.
And I don't want to throw a spanner in the works but with another son Thomas bapt 30.1.1775 and son Francis Vernon Phillips 13.11.1776,could this be their marriage at Hope Derbyshire.
Thomas Phillips bach Uttoxeter and Ann Vernon spinster Hope 24.1.1774.
A possible baptism for Ann to John and Elizabeth Vernon 2.10.1743 at Uttoxeter.

Wow thank you so much. You have been busy!

If ANN died in 1791 she cannot be our Ann. Do you know if a death certificate would show Mothers maiden name? Thomas died in 1866.
-
You spotted that. Wish I had!
No she can't be damn.
The death certificate won't help I'm afraid. It doesn't have mothers maiden name on in England and Wales although I believe it does in Scotland.
Not sure what to suggest.
There might be a Will at Lichfield archives but the on-line index only goes up to 1760.
There is a Thomas Phillips of Uttoxeter owning land on the 1798 land tax.It looks like Cords Moor and the tax is £4 10 10d.
So there is a chance he would own enough for a Will.
I did find an entry www.chapelbooks.co.uk/stafford.htm
For a Thomas Phillips owning land at Checkley in 1752.
There is also a burial for John Vernon at Uttoxeter 3.1.1811 widower so if he was Ann's father it might mention a Thomas Phillips grandson. There is a copy at the National Archives at Kew which describes him as a cork cutter but it will cost you £3.30 to download.
Can't spot John Goostray.

Thank you again, however I have found a Thomas Phillips born to John and Jane and baptised in Checkley, found the baptism yesterday but can't find it today! He married Rebecca Kent in Leigh 27 December 1819. He has children called John and Jane and also Jervis (which is fairly unusual). John and Jane had a son called Jervis also baptised in Stone around 1801 so I think they must be his parents. The Uttoxeter baptism came from a fellow descendant on Ancestry.com but I think that is incorrect. Thomas is always listed as being born in Checkley on the census returns.

Found it on Dusty Docs bizarrely by putting his mothers name in not his! File number 21879 baptised 4 September 1796 St Mary and All Saints Church, Checkley.
