The Constables had at their disposal, the stocks, situated under the Stockshill Tree outside the Nags Head, for the reprimand of drunks, usually for 6 hours. There was the Lock Up, but where this was situated is not clear. But in 1872, a Rueben Pacey died there and a referral to the Magistrates in Lincoln.
I found this article under Bardney Village History the Rueben Pacey mentioned is the first cousin 5X removed of my wife.
I am trying to find more info on his death could anybody tell me if there will be any Magistrates records for this period and if so where would I find them.
Regards Bernard

Was thinking the death certificate may have some info but can't see a registration in 1872 under Pacey or Pacy.

There are 2 deaths registered for a Reuben Pacey, both in Horncastle, both age 33 in 1873.

Yes I had found these deaths thanks. I have sent for the death cert for the one registered in the first quarter of 1873 will have to see what comes back, but I would still like to read a Magistrates report if one was available.
Thanks for your help.

The only news article for the name I can find is a report of a Reuben Pacey being drunk and disorderly in a public thoroughfare at Sneinton, fined 10s. Article found in Nottinghamshire Guardian 5 September 1862

Thanks for your help I have no record of him being in this area but can not rule anything out at this point I will have to look into it. Since my original post I have received the death certificate I sent for for a Rueben Pacey who died January 1873 in the Horncastle district but it has been of no real help as his death is down as being by natural causes and the only other thing it says is information received from coroner.
