I am interested in E.J. Gillman of 97 Squadron R.A.F. who gave his wartime address as 20 Eastcourt Avenue, Earley, Reading. Sergeant Gillman was a Flight Engineer of 97 Squadron Lancaster JA 707 that was attacked by night fighter after bombing Nuremburg and crashed in Luxembourg 27/28 August 1943.
Sergeant Gillman and my father Walter Layne served together on 97 Squadron and were POWs together.
I am attempting to find a photograph of all of the prisoners named in my father’s POW “Wartime Log” and am hopeful that through this site someone can provide one. My efforts so far can be seen here, https://wallyswar.wordpress.com/other-pows/
Earnest Gillman was killed in 1948 when Lincoln RF474 of 9 Squadron crashed in France.
With thanks, David.
