I am looking for any information on Richard KRAUSE born 1890-1895 probably Richmond Victoria.
Thank you for any information.
-
May I ask the source of your information as he wasn't born in Victoria between 1890 and 1895. Do you have any other information about him at all? It is possible his birth registration given name was not Richard but a Germanic name.
Just to start the ball rolling there is this Richard in NSW.

If that the right family, then the NSW State Records has a deceased estate file likely for the same Johann August KRAUSE ..... These files often contain bdm certificates, details of family relationships and the details of the disposal of the deceased estate. Johann was a farmer, near Temora, and his date of death 28 Sept 1928. Johann was naturalised 30 July 1898.

Thank you for the replies, a large family of KRAUSE were living in Richmond Victoria about that time,I have just found a christening for Richard Charles KRAUSE 7 September 1893, but does not mention parents, was at St. Stephens Church Richmond , Victoria.
Thank you again for your help. Yogi

Hi there,
Is it likely that that 1893 baptism was for an adult?
I am sure that the clergy conducting that baptism would have asked for the parents details. Have you sighted the image from the original parish register?

Hi Yogi
There was a considerable gap between these two births in the family of John and Eliza Jane BARTRAM to have Richard Charles in 1893.
Albert Stewart KRAUSE b. 1889 RICHMOND
Reg #5957
Leslie Norman KRAUSE b. 1896 RICHMOND
Reg #6367

Thank you Essie for your reply, I do not understand the connection between John and Eliza John BARTRAM and Richard Charles KRAUSE.
Thank you again. Yogi. ;)

I am sure that Essie's post is correct. Essie has noted the details in the index including the maiden name of the mum. So, the surname of the child whose birth is registered is INDEXED under the mum's surname at the time of that registration.
So, the index is under KRAUSE as that is mum's surname at that time, because she is a married woman, and therefore the details for the child's father can be recorded on the birth registration.
So, the index has Albert's surname as KRAUSE and the child's father as Jno (as in Jno. KRAUSE) and the index includes mum's nee name as Eliza Jane BARTRAM.
Essie's post does not suggest that Albert's or Leslie's parents were John and Eliza BARTRAM. It suggests to me that the parents were Mr and Mrs John KRAUSE.
When you obtain the actual image of the birth registration you will notice that the registration itself does NOT include a surname for the baby. :)

Sorry Yogi for the confusion with a mistake that was overlooked when I posted the message.
Have deleted the offending words.
John KRAUSE and Eliza Jane BARTRAM were the parents of the family at Richmond.

Thank you mj and Essie for you help, I was not aware Eliza Jane's maiden name was Bartram. I will see if I can check the baptism lists of St. Stephens Church for 1893.
Thank you again,
Yogi.

FamilySearch has these baptisms with parents John KRAUSE and Eliza Jane (no surname given for Eliza). The older children were all baptised 4 Aug 1886 at St James' Church, Melbourne, and show a birthplace: E Melbourne
https://familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=20&query=%2Bsurname%3Akrause~%20%2Bbirth_place%3Aaustralia~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1885-1920~
John Thomas KRAUSE, born 15 Jan 1879,
Margaret Baxter KRAUSE, born 7 August 1881
Frederick Robert KRAUSE, born 17 Nov 1883,
Theodore KRAUSE, born 21 June 1886,
And then - (as already posted by Yogi)
Richard Charles KRAUSE, baptised 7 September, 1893 at St Stephen's church, Richmond, resident Richmond (this record does not give either parent's name).
I would guess that, for whatever reason, Richard's birth was not registered, or recorded wrongly.
Would have been a busy day getting 4 littlies ready to go to church. :) Judith

Here's another birth - you may already have these:
1896, Victoria #6367
Leslie Norman KRAUSE
Father's name: Jno Krause
Mother's name: Eliza Jane Bartram
Birth Place: Richmond, Victoria
On this man's WW1 record his mother's name is given as Elizabeth ELLIS (shown on the index as Elles) , living at Park St South Melbourne, later at Albert Park. Sadly Leslie KRAUSE was killed in action in Belgium, July 1917. His WW1 record is quite long and includes some letters written by Elizabeth (as she calls herself) includin one where she asks about a watch he won in a running competition while in England.

I would like to thank everyone for helping me with the search for Richard Charles KRAUSE. Strange no parents names on baptism.
Thank you, Yogi.

Yogi, baptism records are not regulated, and it's up to the church whether they put parents' names in or not. The information I posted is from the FamilySearch index and the names may actually be recorded in the register.

I have linked for you above where you can source the record and ascertain whether or not parental names are recorded on the Baptism at St Stephens .Reply #12
There is a good deal of information about the rest of the family that may or may not be relevant to your current inquiry. Let us know if more is required.
