Title: Yew Tree Cemetery Liverpool
Post by: bluegirl54 on Saturday 14 February 15 21:46 GMT (UK)
Hello I'm new to this site, can anyone help me or advise me as to how I can locate my aunties grave please. I believe that my grandparents are in the same plot. All buried in Yew Tree, my auntie was Joan Johnston(e) and my grandparents were Martin & Margaret Handley. My auntie passed away 6th December 1965. I keep hitting a brick wall in my search. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Welcome to the forum. The online records for Yew Tree Cemetery end in September 1965 but the burial records for Martin and Margaret are below. You might be able to get the burial details for Joan by posting a request on this thread:-

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=651292.171

-Martin Handley of 17 South Street aged 53 years was buried in Yew Tree Cemetery in grave 2D 291 on 2 June 1949.
-Margaret Handley who died in Walton Hospital (107 Rice Lane) aged 53 years was buried in Yew Tree Cemetery in grave 2D 291 on 1 September 1950.

Hi Blue70

Thank you so so much, I've just had a weeping 1/2 hr after reading this. It makes sense now that I haven't been able to trace my Aunties plot. We have recently lost our lovely Mum and wanted to see if it would be possible to lay her to rest with her family.

God bless you.

Hello again Blue,
Is there a link for a map of the cemetery to find the grave quite easily do you know?

Thank you

I've just noticed from my records my Great Aunt Jane Bennett is buried in the same section she is in 2D 258.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

This seems to be where you would contact for information on the plot. I took it from Liverpool's City Council website

Yew Tree Cemetery
Yew Tree is not managed by Liverpool City Council but by the Archdiocese of Liverpool. For enquiries relating to Yew Tree Cemetery you should contact the main office at:

LACE, Croxteth Drive, Liverpool, L17 1AA
Telephone: 0151 522 1000

Hi Gibel

Thank you for taking time out to give me this information, I will contact them. I think I will have to meet with somebody there as I don't know how we go about getting permission to lay Mum to rest there (if we can). I don't know if we need deeds or anything official to gain access, our Mum was the last one of her family but it would be very fitting if we could lay her back with them all. We have both Mum's and Dad's ashes that we need to lay.

I think this message was meant for this thread:-

"Hi all

So my sister and I have been to Yew Tree this afternoon. Blue70 and Organza gave me the information I was looking for a couple of weeks ago. Our Grandparents and Auntie are in an unmarked grave from what we gather. This was quite upsetting as we don't know if there has ever been a headstone or if after our Auntie passed away in 1965 the headstone was removed and not put back. My sister is going to contact LACE on Monday to see if their records can shed any light on it for us, and if we can what we need to do to enable us to place our parents ashes there. Any further advice or help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bluegirl54"

Yes Blue

My apologies, it was for this thread - I didn't realise I had sent it as a pm! So sorry.

However, my sister has asked how you can gain access so quickly to these requests, how you get your information?

The burial records for Ford and Yew Tree are on the Ancestry website. You don't necessarily need a subscription to view them. In Liverpool all libraries in the city have Ancestry free on library computers via "Digital Library". I use Ancestry at home while Ozranga has a fuller version of these records on microfiche.

Oh I see, it's all quite interesting. We have been in touch with the Archdiocese and have been sent the relevant paperwork to fill in to enable the deeds to be put in one of our names. It appears it's quite straight forward and therefore we will be able to lay both our parents to rest there.

Thank you all on this forum for all your assistance, it's really appreciated

Hello bluegirl,
Please can you let me know who you got in touch with as I am hoping I can bury my Dad's ashes with his parents in Yew Tree in a plot in "D too but am struggling with details of who has the deeds since my Grandmother died in 1998. I'm not in Liverpool as live down South these days but will be at Yew Tree to try and find the grave next week and it would be good to have a someone who can help after that.

Thanks and hope your arrangements for your parents ashes burial go as you hope.

Kind regards
