Hi all
The next photos I've going to post for dating are ones that I rescued as I thought they were too lovely to be left collecting dust in a junk shop.
I'm very keen to get them dated for reference purposes, but also would love to see any interpretations that you may wish to post and I can assure you each and everyone will be kept.
Please however give other posters priority.
Cheers

Elwin Neame was reckoned to be one of the top photographers of his generation, based in Wimbledon. He died in 1923, but the studio could have been carried on by an associate or other family member.

Aw thanks for this Jeff. You've piqued my interest in the photographer now, I'm going to have to investigate further! 8)

Caz. Can you read what the handwriting says at the bottom?
-
I can't make it out...not even with my trusty Inspector Clouseau light up magnifying glass! ;D ;D ;D
Hang on while I scan just that area...
-
I think it reads "cream only" but that doesn't make much sense....
-
I can't make anything out :'(
-
I could post it on the deciphering board as some people on there have amazing abilities to read something out of scribble.
-
That's how I read it Caz...maybe it refers to "No Colour"

As in don't vandalise it by hand painting ;D ;D ;D
What's your guesstimate for a date?
-
1920s...Marcel wave ;D
Carol

I did think later at first as that style has a bit of date range, but with the info on the photographer, I'll put her down as early 20s.
Cheers buddy!

Yes that style had a long shelf life...I have one of my Grandma with a similar waved hair do taken in the 40s but the style of clothing is very different from the lady in your photo....but...I've been wrong before ;D
