Title: Florrie Cartwright
Post by: liford on Thursday 12 February 15 18:59 GMT (UK)
Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can help me please. I am trying to locate the Death Registration for my Great Grand Aunt Florrie Cartwright nee Walsh. Florrie was born on the 15 Jun 1898, New Ferry near Liverpool and Birkenhead, England. She as the Daughter of Michael Henry (Known as Henry)Walsh and Amelia Walsh nee Hesketh. She Married a Thomas Cartwright on the 21 May 1921, at the Registry Office in Birkenhead.

Her Initial date for Arriving in Montreal was 12th August 1923, I have then 2 more entries back into Montreal after visiting her family here in England, they are 26 April 1926, and 25 May 1930, all traces of her and her husband ended here. I do not believe they had any children as none appear on the travel records plus they wanted to take my own Grandmother (Her Niece) Florence Walsh back with them but she did not want to go.

If anyone can help with finding anything relating to Florrie would be appreciated.

Thank you

Liam

Did they just sail to Montreal, or were they planning to reside there?

Because this looks like Thomas' arrival card (didn't see Florrie in the same image set) and it seems he was at least initially going to Winnipeg.

Any further information you can glean from the later passenger records as to where they ended up would be very useful in looking for death/burial and other records.

April 1926 arrival in Canada on the Doric shows Thomas and Florrie headed for Hussar Alberta.  Hussar east of Strathmore which is east of Calgary.
May 1930 arrival in Canada on Athenia shows Thomas and Florrie had been in Hussar but were headed for Rockyford, Alberta.  This is slightly northeast of Strathmore.

History book for Rockyford shows Tom and Florrie references on pages 89, 98, 272, 402.  Tom had a drycleaners at one point, Fuller brush travelling salesman.
