Title: Jane Radford/Giles East marriage 1827 Plymtree
Post by: davidjkrichards on Tuesday 10 February 15 09:02 GMT (UK)
These are my 3G Grandparents who married in Plymtree, Devon  at St John the Baptist on the 5th April 1827. Jane Radford was born in Kentisbeare and there are a number of possibilities for her birth and various trees have different choices.

I am only able to see the transcript of the parish record of the marriage on findmypast which only gives the name of the bride & groom. I wonder if there is anyone who can take a look at the original record to see if any witnesses are mentioned that might help me.

Thank you.

Exeter & Plymouth Gazette 4th November 1843 has a piece about Giles East " Agricultural Labourers & Servants. First Premium. 3rd prize to Giles East who has worked for Mr John Hole of Plymtree and his predecessors on the same farm for 30 and a half years" Not sure what a First Premium was, but maybe money!
regards.

If you look at http://ukga.org/england/Devon/towns/p/Plymtree/index.html page 182 it states that the witnesses were William EAST & Sarah GRIFFIN.

Thank you both for the information, especially the link to Devon Genealogy.
