Hi,
I am the club historian at Whitby Town FC and am researching former players for articles for the programme.
Joseph Parker Allinson was a player in the 1920s. He was born March Quarter of 1908 in the Guisborough area. Later married Emily Wood C. 1933. I cannot find any info on his death.
According to the web site www.deceasedonline.com Joseph Parker Allinson died on 1st February 1984 and was cremated on 7th February 1984 at Lincoln Crematorium (info from Kathy on another site).
Is anyone researching the Allinsons?
Thanks in advance.
Neil

He was born March Quarter of 1908
His birth was registered in March qtr 1908 but he was actually born 17.12.1907 according to his death reg
Joseph Parker Allinson aged 76 born 17.12.1907 Lincoln 7 1793
I cannot find any info on his death.
If you are looking for the cause of death - using the above reference you can buy a copy of his death cert from the GRO - cost is £9.25

Thanks Carole :)
I was hoping someone may be researching him, descended from him or knew him personally as I'd like to be able to 'put some flesh on the bones' so to speak.
Joe was rather a good player and like all the players that made over 100 appearances, I'd like to do them justice on the achievements.
Thanks again for the DOB :)

They don't appear to have had any children looking at births 1933-1953 so no descendants
-
Thanks a shame :(
Sometime when researching players one or two stand out for their commitment to the club or performances or their loyalty to the club. Joe was one such player.
Thanks for your help, it's given me food for thought.

Hello
I don't know if anyone is still monitoring this 6 yr old thread but if so I may be able to provide some information about Joe Allinson former Whitby United footballer
-
Yep ... Still interested in him
-
What would you like to know?
I'm a bit chary about putting a full bio online since family members are still around and may not want their privacy invaded. I notice you're based in Croydon, are on Ancestry Sweden and are a historian for Whitby Town - an odd combination?
-
Not on Ancestry Sweden, UK yes.
Been the clubs official Historian since 1996 appointed by Charlie the secretary and Graham the Chairman.
I do live in Croydon and some of my ancestors are from Whitby

Dr Joseph Parker Allinson (known as Joe) was born in Skinningrove 17th December 1907. He was the eldest of 3 brothers and lived as a child in New Company Row Skinningrove. He was a graduate of Sheffield University where he gained a PhD in Fuel Technology in 1937. He spent his working life in the oil industry, much of the time abroad managing oil refineries in Abadan and Aden, retiring from BP in the 1960s before finishing his working career as Secretary of the Institute of Petroleum in London. While at Sheffield he met Annie Holliday from Huddersfield. They were married in 1937 and had homes in Huddersfield and Marske-by-the-Sea before moving to Sutton south of London in the early1950s. Their 3 children grew up in Marske and Sutton. I don't know much about his footballing career other than that he played as a young man for Whitby United. Later in life he was an enthusiastic and low handicap golfer.

Yes please - I'd be delighted to read his playing career - I know he was a spectator at Wembley when Whitby came second in the amateur cup final.

It's on one of my back up drives so I'll have to hunt it out

Figures - do you have a date when he left Whitby?
I notice the name Legg in your "wife's side". One of Joe's brothers married Daisy Legg. Any connection?

Not exactly on when he left.
In that era players would play for other clubs (no contracts back then)
Last game for us was 27th December 1930
Legg.
The family were in Dorset initially but one moved to Wiltshire
