Hello,
Can someone help me please? I am trying to find out if there are any baptism records for my 2nd Great Grandmother Frances Jane Ferguson b. 1857 Armagh d. 1926 Heworth Co, Durham.
Frances Jane was the Daughter of Hugh Ferguson (b. 1827, Ireland d. 1882, Heworth) and Ellen (b. 1821, Ireland d. 1898, Newcastle). There are also five Siblings:
John (B.1843, Armagh d. 1913, Durham)
Mary Ann (b. 1846, Ireland)
Margaret (b. 1848, Ireland d. 1889, Durham)
James (b. 1850, Ireland d. 1907, Stanley, Co. Durham)
Robert (b. 1859, Ireland?)
Out of all the above, only Frances Jane and John have indicated they were from Armagh in their later censuss. Hugh Ferguson appears on the 1851 England Census but not the rest of the family, they do not appear until the 1861 living in Jarrow.
I have tried to look at Irish Records but without any luck. I would like to know when Hugh and Ellen got married and also her Maiden name and also if their children were baptised. Hugh on mist of the records I have was a Chemical Labourer.
Frances Jane married a Neil Blue in 1875. Neil Blue (b. 1855, Gateshead d. 1937, Heworth) was the son of a Neil Blue (b. 1828, Ireland d. 1886, Flintshire). I would love to know if anyone could find any information about Neil Blue Senior. I only know form his marriage that his Father was called George Blue. Neil does not appear in the 1841 Census (not that I can find) but married his wife Margaret Ann Miller in 1847 in South Shields.
If anyone can help that would much appreciated. If you would like to see my family tree it is on Ancestry named Crawford/Blake Family.
Thank you
Liam Crawford

Registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages started in 1864 (from 1845 for non-Catholic marriages) so the first question is what religion would the family have been in Ireland?
'Armagh' can refer to both the city and the county which means you will probably need a more exact location (and religion) before starting to search Irish records.

Can't see that at the moment those listings would be much help since the poster is looking for family of Hugh Ferguson & his wife Ellen.

Hello All,
Thank you so much for your responses. Sorry the late reply I did not get any notifacations I had any responses. The list of Ferguson provided by ciderdrinker below unfortunatley do not match any of the Fergusons in my tree. BUt thank you for takinf time to look for them.
Thank you healy I will have a look into that.
Thank you aghadowey also. I realisr the diffculty with the registrations being later than England. As far as I know my fergusons were Church of England, I only say this as their Daughter Frances Jane (My 2nd great grandmother) and her husband Neil Blue were married in an Anglican Church. And their children were all baptised in an anglican church and Frances Jane's Sister Mary Ann to was married in an Anglican church. This makes me think they were not Roman Catholic.
The only reference to Armagh I have is by the Census in England but they Just say Armagh, Ireland.
I may one day come over to Armgh and see what I can find out. I need to find the Fergusons and the Blues.
Thank you all for your responses very much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Liam Crawford
