I have been going through some of my brick walls and this one is one of my thickest walls
William Jordan Price was born about 1900 in Liverpool to Thomas Price 1868 Liverpool and Mary Ann Stanley 1864 St Helens, He appears in the 1901 census with his parents but by 1911 Mary Ann is with Peter Edward Thomas and his children at 64 HAREWOOD STREET EVERTON . William Jordan is still named Price but Mary and Peter have stated that they have been married for 20 years with 5 children --- William being one of them. In 1901 Peter is married to Alice so definitely not correct there,
The main one I am looking for is William Jordan Price .... I cant even find a birth for him never mind a marriage or death and with a name like Jordan I would have thought it would have been a bit easier
Any help would be appreciated

Forgive me, but if you can't find a birth/marriage/death for a William Jordan Price how do you know where he was born, his middle name and who his parents were?

I have the census for 1901 and 1911 Annette and that is where the name, birth year and place of birth came from
-
Hi,
Have you checked the image for 1911 or just the transcription?

Ive checked the image for both and even printed them out so I can really study them
-
Have you checked his description on both 1901/1911......do they both say "son"?
-
on 1901 it states son 7mths
on 1911 where he is with his mother and stepfather it states adopted son aged 10
-
Hi
Welcome to rootschat :)
The 1901 does not give a middle name for him, it may have been added later. Mary has been described as Mary A.

Wasn't reading it properly ::) See later posts

I'm just wondering why there's no ditto after his name in 1901 to indicate he has the Price surname.
I wonder if he was just born as William JORDAN?

Could it be that they are not his mother and stepfather? In the case of a widow with children remarrying I have seen "wife's son/daughter " used and not "adopted son".

Mary Ann Stanley and Thomas Price married in 1890. 10 years was a long time for a first child, I would agree about the possible 'adoption'
-
The mothers details all match .... St Helens being her place of birth
and for Maureen ..... had another look and I see what you mean :-\ will have a check on the name william jordan and see what comes up .... Thanks for pointing that out
and Rosie ... she is Mary Ann
Right will go check out William Jordan and see what I can get :)

A William Jordan birth reg'd Sept.qtr.1900 West Derby (which covered Liverpool).
A William Jordan bc.1900 died Liverpool North Sept.1961.
Would think these are the same person and that he was indeed 'adopted' although there was nothing formal done in those days.
