I searched all north lanarkshire councils cemetery cd's at motherwell heritage centre but found nothing. I then contacted south lanarkshire councils family history and asked for a search of the cemetery's and burial day book, but they found nothing.

Being in Newmains I would have said cambusnethan or if Catholic possibly St Patrick's new Stevenson
-
I thought that too, as they lived in wishaw and Newmains, but records with motherwell heritage say NO
South lanarkshire councils family history searched the burial day book and say NO
-
Have you tried going to cambusnethan and speaking to them, I found them very helpful and with one phone call they were able to tell me where grave was and who was in it

Hi Moira,
In the Register of Funerals (Public Ground) Cambusnethan 1869 - 1881:
CATHERINE FEECHAN, daughter, died Wishaw, aged 11 yrs, parents Peter Feechan & Helen McGuire, Lair No. 504, burial 26 May 1876.
ARTHUR FECHEN, child, died Wishaw, aged 12 yrs, son of Peter Fechen & Helen McGuire, Lair No. 587, burial 05 Sep 1876.
Public Ground denotes no headstones

Hi Moira,
Other than the two records supplied by Sage, all the rest must have been interred in common (Public) Ground (paupers graves) and it looks as if the registers for burials in common ground between 1881 and 1906 have not survived. I should add for accuracy, on the two records already given, "Wishaw" is the place of abode, but not necessarily the place of death.
The only other records of interest to you (I only have records up to 1917) contain these three entries -
JAMES LOCHRANE, abode Wishaw, aged 2 months.
Parents - Thomas Lochrane & Agnes Feechan.
Buried in plot E612 on 2nd February 1907.
AGNES LOCHRANE, housewife, abode Wishaw. Aged 33 years, married.
Parents - Peter Feechan & Helen McGuire.
Plot E602 on 26th February 1907.
PATRICK LOCHRANE, abode Wishaw, aged 8 years.
Parents - Thomas Lochrane & Agnes Feechan.
Plot E3082 on 3rd March 1913.
Plot owned (at that time) by Thomas Lochrane, ironworker. 102 Berryhill Rows, Wishaw.
good luck with your research.

I should add that St Patrick's Catholic cemetery at New Stevenston didn't open until well into the 20th century.

Thank goodness you showed up, Lodger! For a while there I thought you'd gone AWOL. ;D
