I know next to nothing about them other than they had a daughter born 5 Dec 1933 in Danevang Texas. N o idea if there were other children. I can not find them in the 1940 census. Familysearch has a number of Gaylord Bair's. They do not appear to have married in Texas.

Not sure if you would get any clues about the daughters siblings from the obituary for daughters husband ???

There is an entry on Rootsweb for Ellen Marie Nielsen which might indicate 2 marriages ??? The entry was recently added - 20-1-2015 - might be worth contacting the owner.

Have you looked at the actual image of the birth (which can be seen on familysearch when logged in)
Gaylord Bair is listed as aged 23, normal residence Pennsylvania (town name is given H?burg?), birthplace as Youngstown, Ohio. The daughter b. 1933 was the first child to Ellen.
This might make sense with this 1930 census which has an Ellen Nielsen, niece, living in Mercer County, Pennsylvania (given

and a 1930 census for a possible Gaylord Bair in the same part of Pennsylvania:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XHCG-C8F
So if there was a marriage, perhaps it took place in Pennsylvania?
It would seem Ellen was remarried to Louis by 1940 - written as "Basek", but noted that in 1935 they were living in Wharton, Texas. Ellen's daughter (under the same surname) is using the same surname:

We did find a "Nielson" in Danevang, TX. Not sure if she is related in some respect to Ellen Marie

Thanks Sandra,jorose and Crestleaf
According to Louis obit in he married Ellen 7 Jan 1939 in Henderson Kentucky.

It seems that you would have to contact the County Clerk to try and get hold of a 1939 marriage:

This might be a good way to find out how Ellen listed herself - widowed, divorced?

Gaylord & Ellen were never married. As far as I know, Gaylord didn't know he had a daughter as Ellen wasn't able to locate him after she found out she was pregnant. Ellen married Louis, they had 1 child together, eventually moved to Montana where the daughter met her husband. They had 3 kids & moved to Louisiana.
From what I've been able to find, Gaylord was never married & didn't have any more children other than the one he didn't know about.
