I have a photograph of the headstone in St. Peter's Cemetery, 1745 Dundas St., Mississauga Ontario of a Joseph Harper who's relative was a Rev. John Harris in Newfoundland. He was the chaplain to the British Garrison. The Joseph Harper was my father (George Caswell b. 1915)'s grandfather. I have letters written by Rev. Harris to his wife. I have letters written by his wife to the British government asking for a pension following her husband's death in 1709. Her daughter had married a merchant ship captain named Elliott at the time the letter was written.
I have travelled to NFL to the Rooms where the archives are kept but was unable to make a link to the cemetery in Ontario to the family of Rev. John Harris.
I have the family geneology link from Joseph Harper's wife's family back to Robert Cook who was a United Empire Loyalist. I would be interested in connecting with anyone from the Harper family.

Hello Mary, and welcome to Rootschat. :)
If I have read your post correctly, you are seeking a connection between Joseph Harper, and Rev. John Harris. You might want to start a thread on the Canada board, stating what you know, and names and dates of the two family groups. Or alternatively, a nice moderator might move this thread for you to the appropriate board.

Hi,
Looks as if Joseph Harper Snr, Father of Jospeh Harper of your post, was born abt 1812 Newham Gloucestershire.
He married 11th April 1839 Clifton St. Andrews, Gloucester:-
Joseph Harper (widower) the son of Thomas Harper = Sarah Margaret Harries.
note this is a transcript so do wonder about the spelling of Harries/harris.
taken from Select Bristol Marriages on Ancestry.
According to England Census Information Sarah Margaret was born abt 1811 St. John's Newfoundland, Canada.
