Title: Umbrella Maker in Chorlton upon Medlock - Alice James

Would anyone have any information regarding factories in or close to Chorlton upon Medlock in 1881. I am trying to find out where my Grt Granny worked. Her name was Alice James. She was either a seamstress or an umbrella maker. Thanks.

Have you found her on the 1881 census to see what occupation/address she had?

If you know when/where she was born post it below and we can look her up for starters  :)

She might have been employed at Charles Mackintosh's works on Cambridge Street:  see here:
