Title: Peter Renwick 1790 abt
Post by: bluerenwick on Wednesday 21 January 15 11:59 GMT (UK)
can anyone help find anything on Peter Renwick I found his family living in Morton Dumfries 1841 and possibly him working away with his wife's brother. found the births of his children but no more on him?

Is it just the first name you need opinions on or the second name too?

Is this the only photo you have? It's just that it appears to be a little blurry but someone may be able to enhance it for you. Are you able to take a clearer photograph?

If that is a name label it seems an odd place to sew it.  :-\

Ruskie I think it looks like a hospital admission/patient id band?

Yeah its the band that was round his wrist, I have a photo of him but this is the only clue to his name. If his mates knew him as Tomo, Im guessing his second name is something like thompson

Sorry about that.  :-[

Yes, you would think that Tomo is a nick name for Thompson, though he may have acquired it for another reason unrelated to his surname.

Is there anything else that may give clues as to his name? Is he named on your own birth certificate for example? You know that his friends called him Tomo/Thomo - who told you this? Might they be able to tell you more? Might a relative know his name?  :-\

Is this not a "living person" query?

I'm also fascinated about how this photo came about.

I'm imagining an anonymous phone call -- We think it's your father in this bed! The OP rushes there to find nothing but a cast off item of clothing --

Sorry, OP, if this sounds flippant and I do wish you all the best in your search.

It is very curious isn't it?

I'm sure there is a logical explanation but as an outsider I think it odd that you know the nickname his friend's used to call him, but not his real name.

This is a bit mystifying.

The replies on this thread bear no relation to the original enquiry  :-\

Am I seeing things?  :o

I'm sure this was a completely different thread in which the OP included a photograph and a request for identifying the name on a hospital wrist band. Returning to this thread I find a different subject heading and a different question as follows:

Peter Renwick 1790 abt
can anyone help find anything on Peter Renwick I found his family living in Morton Dumfries 1841 and possibly him working away with his wife's brother. found the births of his children but no more on him?

So now the answers that have been given to the original question do not make sense.

What's going on?

Bluewrenwick, have you changed your subject heading and question in error?

Snap Jen ...  :-\

Hi Sarah. It looks like bluerenwick has completely removed their original request, and changed the subject heading - you will note that the heading has only changed on their first post, and the others, which were originally replied to, retain the original subject heading "Find my father".

I am wondering if it may be a cut and paste issue (error) and bluerenwick intended to start a new thread about "Peter Renwick 1790"? Alternatively perhaps the father is still living which is why the original request was removed?  :-\

Either way, the thread needs amending and hopefully bluerenwick will be able to advise what they would like you to do.  :)
