I'm looking for the burial of thomas kibble born 1771 churchdown married Joan welch in 1895 great witcombe and had 3 children in brockworth. i think Joan is buried in brockworth 1838
-
Here's Joan in case you dont have the full details:
Joan Kibble aged 67 buried 15th May 1838 at St George, Brockworth
There's a Thomas Kibble buried there 20th July 1849 but his age is given as 40, so too young - possibly a son?
-
Thanks for the information i do have Joan kibble burial.
Yes the thomas you mention could be his son, there was a thomas kibble baptized 1808 in brockworth and died in stroud 15Th July 1849.I wonder if this is the same person
-
I think it must be as that is the only death of a Thomas Kibble in 1849.
-
Hi just had joan's death certificate today and it shows occupation wife of parish clerk so do this mean thomas kibble was still alive in 1838
-
Sounds as if he could be, as usually it says widow of. However, it might be that it was recorded incorrecly and he had already died.
There are about 16 trees on Ancestry with this family, but none have his death, so it obviously isn't easy to find.
-
Hi I found him on the 1851 census they have him down as thomas kittle. so he's still alive in 1851 and living in brockworth aged 80 yrs old
-
Thomas Kibble is recorded as a Parish Clerk, aged 80, in Brockworth on 1851 census, so looks to be same. Burial records don't seem to be recorded after 1851 in that area. Will keep looking.
-
Think you'll find he died Dec.1853 Gloucester (registration district for Brockworth).
There seems to be anomalies with the recording of this - on FreeBMD regn. district just has a star (underlined) with ref. 6a 131, FindMyPast have district as Gloucester ref. 6a 151, and Ancestry have no district at all, ref. 6a 131. However, if you look at the original GRO index you will see that for district it's written as 'Gla'ster' which has no doubt caused all the confusion! I personally think that the page no. is 151 (as on FindMyPast).

There is a burial entry in the Brockworth Parish Register for a Thomas Kibble in 1853. Microfiche of original. No 405.

Thank you everyone for their help- problem solved

Hi Annette,
Well, I've been led a merry dance on this one. It appears that there is a huge gap in the burial records 1813-1888! The microfiche (PFC 62 IN 1/6 3) ONLY refers to Entry No 405, 1853? There were only 2 members of staff available to question, and neither knew the answer. Fortunately, there is a separate record held on film (A-Z by parish) by year ONLY. I then found the data you were looking for.

Thomas KIBBLE, abode Gloucester, buried October 5, 1853, aged 82 years.
Whilst looking at the microfiche I noticed that there were 2 further burials for KIBBLE in 1854. Not having time to find the film and do a lookup, would you like me to check it out next Tuesday?
