This is a photo of the father of the groom in the "1907 Wedding" thread. Was hoping to have this one restored to glory. Unfortunately it is really old and rough but I have seen miracles on this board. Thanks
-Edit-
Ideally I think it would look great to have a double line oval (Period) around his head. And then a nice border around the entire photo. Then if someone could "stamp" in the frame his name and years in a gold script to make it look like a period photo.
These are just my suggestions but I am excited to see what anyone comes up with.

I have no idea how you do that but it looks like an actual painting with the brush strokes and all. I assume it is with a pen tablet or something but it looks great. Amazing how neat you made the old photo turn out!!! I didn't think I gave you restorers much to work with but you all are proving me wrong.
Thank you restorer45!

Here is my interpretation for you.

Treetotal,
Fantastic. Great how you preserved the essence of the original. The light texture is perfect for the aged photo and gives it a nice warm feel. Accurate representation and beautiful blends. Another fantastic job done. I love watching all of you guys work on these difficult projects!
Thank you so much for taking the time to work on this!

You're very welcome...for what it's worth..I think the original could well be an 1850s ambrotype.

After looking up what an "Ambrotype" is, it seems like a reasonable assumption. It's From the UK and date range (birth/age in photo) matches ambrotype introduction (The ambrotype was introduced in the 1850s-from wiki) so you are likely correct.
Thanks for the information.

Aw first thing I notice is the Christmas smilies have gone....majorly sad! :'( :'(
Anyway, this is my interpretation of what I think you were asking for, but I'm probably so far out in left field that I'm in the next state! ;D ;D ;D

Didn't realize that another restore was snuck in. I like the oval frame and name display plate on frame. Looks like a period style display and what I was imagining. Funny thing is, all though I had in my mind what I wanted, it was just as exciting to see what artistry/talents you restorers used. I am excited over all of them.
Thank you Caz!!
