The crease across the mouth is preventing positive identification, so it would be great if someone was able to de-crease the photo and date it for us.
If anyone know what colours should be used m that would be a fantastic added bonuses, but we are really after a clear image.
Thanks very much
Gavin

Certainly WW1 era uniform but could be just before or after.
These type of cards were popular during this time.

theses are all beautifully done! thank you!

I've tried to find the colours, but no luck. I can give it a stab in the dark if you would like. Some are pretty obvious. :)

Why not Caz! Thanks.
I'm intrigued though by how you can tell which colours should be which in b/w photos.
-
Well the Union Jack is obvious, there is a thistle, also I believe they are tudor roses. Braiding etc is usually gold, the embroidery possibly red on a beige background.
I can get the uniform colour and the badge colour. The crown etc I can also make educated guesses based on others found on the net.
With his colouring, the grey shades and tones usually give an indication of hair and eye colouring (i.e. his hair doesn't appear to be too dark so I would guess at light to mid brown, same with eyes, possibly hazel.). It's guess work, and in my opinion coloured photos are just for fun and to give an indication of what they may have looked like, so shouldn't be taken too seriously.
Of course if you could identify him and find his service record, then we would know his colouring for sure.

I've just had a bit of luck and will be able to get most colours pretty accurate (hair and eyes will still be a guess though!)

Here you go. I'm going to stick my neck out and say the colours are pretty accurate. The regiment 'logo' I stole from the internet, so I'm pretty certain that's correct. A lot of the other colours were obvious.
The cap badge is gold and silver so I hope it stands out.
If anyone thinks I've gotten it wrong, please don't hesitate to say, would be good to get it as accurate as possible.
Background colour was a guess, as of course was the chaps colouring.

Two more.

Superb Caroline 8) :) :)

Thanks Terry! Much appreciated!
Happy New Year. :)

these are all really great. Thanks Caz for the colouring. If this is the young man I think it is that according to his records he has blue eyes, brown hair and is described both as having a fresh or a fair complexion.
These are great!

One with blues eyes. :)

That's fantastic.
I've got a regimental photograph quite ad creased would you like to have a go at cleaning it up? The front row is almost entirely boys soldiers. Its so upsetting to see them.
