Hi
Am looking for someone to look up the following marriages for me to confirm whether they are sisters with the same father, as I can't find the family in the 1861 census.
The first was announced in the Sunderland Daily Echo 28 December 1875 St Pauls (am presuming St Pauls, Hendon) between George Ridley Douglass and Hannah Turner
also
Monkwearmouth Parish Church (presuming St Peter) 12 February 1861 between Robert Hardy and Mary Turner

The Robert Hardy marriage gives Mary Turners father as John Turner

Hannah Douglas is on the 1881 census RG11/4996 f113 page 56 - also there is her mother Eleanor Turner.
1871 has Eleanor 41 with daughter Hannah age 16 RG10/5004 f8 p9

Hi
Thanks for the information both marriages have John Turner as the father of both girls but I need an occupation for John and an address to confirm whether I have the right family.
Hannah I think could be the daughter of John Jnr son of John, which would fit with the census you found but confirmation of the details of marriage is needed to be sure.

Probably need the younger Johns marriage cert to confirm he is the son of the older John.

Hi
And a Million thanks Alan!!! I've been looking for John and family in the '61 census for years!!!
This confirms what I had thought with the marriages etc it was the major occupation change from engineer to beerseller that had me a little confused as to whether I had the right families. This does confirm that but if anyone is going anywhere to look at the marriages I would be grateful for the look-ups.
I don't have information on which church John Turner jnr married so will have to save for certificate.
I think he married Ellen Potts March qtr 1854 Sunderland District.
Thanks again :)
Kathryn

Hiya
No, I think I was getting myself a little confused - which is not too difficult with this family :-\
Mary is the Aunt of Hannah, I think, both with father's John Turner, who at some point were both engineers!!
Struggling with sorting the different relationships out due to not being able to look at Parish Registers for Baptisms and Marriages will have to have a few days in Durham at some point this year as I'd like to be able to sort things out!
Thanks for your help - Happy New Year :)
