Thank you for accepting me on to the board. Trying to track info on my great grandfather Hugh Mcmillan and family who came from paisley to work at Dunctocher mill in 1901 Census. Returned to Paisley in 1911. Mcmillan branch has links to Bowie through marriage , Henry Bowie who briefly owned Mountblow. Trying to establish if that link got him job, also photos etc of mill / staff in 1901. Grateful for any advice.
Regards

Jack, welcome to RootsChat :)
Not sure of your dates etc...
This is some detail and photo on Mountblow House, www.theglasgowstory.com/image.php?inum=TGSB00303
As you can see, this estate was then acquired by William Dunn of Duntocher (and Mill).
There were a number of mills in the area. Wondering if this is the one we are talking about here (some photos included) www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/record/rcahms/90108/duntocher-mill/rcahms

Hi Jack,
I have a McMillan family from Govan, and the youngest child, Mary McMillan was born in Duntocher abt. 1876.
Her siblings (all born in Govan 1855 - 1868) were Isabella, John, Dugald, Agnes, Donald, and David. Other than Isabella (my direct descendent) I know very little about them, other than the fact that Mary went on to marry a Gray and possibly returned to Govan.
I've been told that there was another sibling, Hugh, based on some family stories - however I can't find any records of him! He should be the youngest sibling, but he doesn't seem to exist.
