Although the photographer is from Paisley, I am almost sure this was taken in Stewarton Ayrshire. Could someone please date this for and perhaps I can work out who is the family member.
-
It would be interesting to see the back if there's anything on it.
Late 1890's & possibly up to 1900.
It would depend on the other addresses on the back if there are any.

I can narrow it down even further for you.
Pearlmann & Co were active in Paisley during the period 1895-1901, see http://www.thelows.madasafish.com/cards/pearlmann_231.htm
The same website suggests a date close to 1895 based on the lettering on the photograph. So Jim1 is right on the dot!
Hope this helps ;)

Oh, It helps indeed. You are all on the dot, thank you all so much. I think I may have the ancestor now but will post this on a Stewarton site and see if anyone else has a similar photo. I also have a few other photos by the same photographer so the dating of this one helps with the others.
As per usual there is nothing on the back of any of them. ;D ;D ;D

Because so many of the girls are of a similar age, it looks like a school photograph.

Such a wonderful clear photo

Thanks Gr2 and Brit, It did copy well from my basic HP printer. I have sent it off to the historical society and hope someone else has kept their old family photos. :) :)

Just stumbled across this and that looks like it was taken outside the old Stewarton Public School on Dunlop Street. It was opened in 1876, I was a pupil there when it celebrated its centenary, sadly demolished several years ago for houses.
