Looks Great :D
Thank You for your effort... ;D
-
As you say, I would think this is a WW1 photo

Thank you very much :o
I think it was just after WW1 as he was married in 1919 and it looks like he is wearing a wedding ring
-
It could be earlier as he appears to be wearing the British Derby Scheme armband.

So what exactly was the WW1 British Army Derby Scheme Armband ?
I believe that he was injured in WW1, although I can't find his service records.
It does look like a ring though.
Then again was it common for the groom to have a ring at that time in working class Manchester...

Two more.

And another.........the ring would appear to be on his middle finger so not a wedding ring. :)

To me, what's taken to be a ring looks more like a lacuna in the photograph that was omitted from the cleanup. He's not wearing a ring at all, IMHO.

Thanks to all for your comments and efforts!
Very much appreciated.

A bit of info here about the Derby Scheme:

Hi....My contribution.
Carolyn :)

Is he sitting in a wheelchair?? Looks a bit like it.
-
I always assumed that this was a picture taken after WW1 and that he was injured.
Oh and thanks to all that have retouched the picture, they all look great.

That's what I originally thought too - and on closer inspection I still think so. :-\

I don't think it's a ring either, it's too close to the knuckle and it's on the wrong finger for a wedding ring.
However, if he is in a wheelchair, that doesn't tally with the derby arm band being issued during training, unless he was injured during training.

I think it's just two young brave souls having recently enlisted, getting a photo taken before they leave, and hopefully return. :-\

The ring is on his left hand....which is the correct hand....
-
Yep, but wrong finger.
-
a very late one from me

Thank You !

Any printing on the back? Is it a postcard?
-
No, I think that it is a copy of the original.
