Looking for any info on Mary born in Northallerton around 1821. Married Robert Barnett in 1840 at Thirsk. Her Father was John. Any details of Parents and Siblings would be welcomed.
Regards

A couple of questions first.
Are you sure she was born in Northallerton.? is this what is given on the census's when married,? What was her father John's occupation on the marriage certificate, I assume you have that.
Did Robert and Mary have children? , if so there might be clues as to parents and siblings names there.
Patrish :)

There are several public member trees on Ancestry showing this family, but no more info re Mary Oliver , some have further children born to her and Robert
Elizabeth Ann b 1847 - 1897 and William Thos b 1853 - 1883
I haven't been able to pin down an exact birth reg for either, but the trees could be wrong, but Wiliams is way out from the death record I found ::)
I cant find any of the family in 1851 either, despite searching under other like surnames and using wildcard character, the only other thing that I have found is a death record of a Robert Barnett, Sept q, 1846 Northallerton, 24 - 369 :-\

Hi Patrish, what do these "trees" say of the Charles in 1841 who looks to be the Charles Henry Barnett September qtr 1840 Thirsk 24 491?

Hi
1871 census William T Barnett is lodging with brother Charles, gives his birth c1853 in Hamburg Germany.
They could have been in Germany around 1851.

Other trees do confirm the info I posted, they give Mary's father as John Oliver b 1795 but no mother :(
Where do the other census's give her birth ???
Cant find her birth on FreeReg

I,m wondering if Mary's mother died in childbirth :-\
Checking the 1841 census there are a couple of possible John Oliver's born around the right age born in Yorkshire assuming that's right.
One with wife and 6 children in Pocklington
One living on his own in Old Malton an Ag Lab
But of course John Oliver may have been deceased by then.
-
There is a death of a John Oliver Sept q 1837 in Thirsk 24 - 266... that's where Mary married in 1840
The death certificate might yield some clue as to who his wife was if the poster sent for it.

Thank you Patrish, Keyboard86 and claire,t for your interest, researches and info/suggestions. Very much appreciated and I will investigate them.
Marriage Cert. says Father, John was a labourer and deceased at time of marriage. Husband Robert was a Carrier by trade so that might account for wanderings to Germany and elsewhere?
Thanks again all for your help, it has given me some useful leads.

Hi again, looking at the 1841 for Robert, I do not read his occupation as Carrier more like Currier J eg a Journeyman Currier?
Which if the case makes me wonder why/how he went to Germany?
I would value a second opinion though!

Hi,
Wedding cert gives Robert as a Carrier.
The S. Kilvington link also gives a Sister, Elizabeth baptised in 1813 and she links to Mother, Mary in 1841 & 1851 Censuses.
I also found a marriage in Thirsk on 04 May 1812 between John Oliver and Mary Dodgson which could fit with birth of Elizabeth?
