Title: how to find burial place for Daniel Eugene Gallagher somewhere in Birmingham
Post by: smd1274 on Thursday 23 October 14 23:12 BST (UK)
I am trying to find the burial place of my aunties Dad, Daniel Eugene Gallagher. He was born 6th March 1933 in Belfast and died 27th October 1974 in Birmingham. How do i go about trying to find it, as none of the family live in or near Birmingham.
I did try a few of the online cemetery sites but had no luck.
Any help would be much appreciated

His death registration does not show a middle name.  In what area of Birmingham was he living at the time of his death?

Are you sure he was buried rather than cremated?

Have you contacted either of these cemetaries?

Online burial records are usually transcribed by volunteers from Family History Societies.
They are then sold on to some online sites.
1974 is still fairly recent transcribers tend to start further back in time.

Birmingham Archives have at Burial Records on microfiche.
Do you know if there was a obituary placed in the local newspaper - Birmingham Evening Mail ?
This newspaper is also on Microfiche at the Archives  in Birmingham.

Besides Cemeteries there are church yards to consider too.

Thank you both, sorry only just replying have been away for the weekend.
I really don't have any idea of where he was living, or if he was buried or cremated, or if obituaries were placed. I am visiting family later this week so will ask for more information. Is my best bet to ring the individual cemeteries to see if he is there ?
Many thanks for you help

Was he Catholic or Protestant?
If the former, St. Chad's would be the place to ask.
