Hello
As a gift for a technophobe pal i'm doing a basic family tree for her.
Her Grandmother and Grandfather were married on 17/12/1925 in Castlewellan, Co. Down (not sure where) and i'm trying to find the certificate so it can give me her Grandmother's parents names....
What we know just now:
Rose Anne King born approx 1907 Annsborogh, Co.Down
married 17/12/1925 in Castlewellen to
Henry George Jordan Fairbairn (born 1903 in Glasgow, Scotland)
At some stage Rose Anne changed her name (unofficially we think) to Dorothy and was always saying she was the same age for years so not sure the info on death cert is correct?
Any help would be gratefully received
cheers
???

Wonder if she's one of these little girls named after granny? (Derryneill is just outside Castlewellan)
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Down/Ballyward/Derryneill/204125
If the marriage in 1925 took place in Ireland then only father's name & occupation will be listed.

Thank you, that is certainly a possibility! How would I access the marriage record tho?
Thanks in advance

How would I access the marriage record tho?
The civil marriage record for Henry Fairbairn and Rose King is available via GRONI online at the following link, choosing the "full" option (£2) lets you see the digitised image:

Hoping your answer includes the following parent possible name which arises from exploring aghadowey’s suggestion- so her father presumably could be John King m Agnes
4 in Derryneill (Ballyward, Down)
King Rose 94 With son John King 38 m Agnes with 3 children inc Rose A
Rose King age of 94 worried me, but the original read more like 74 and so could be the Rose King in 1901 census in 32 in Derryneil (Ballyward, Down)
Where Francis and Rose King are living with unmarriedsons 28 year old John and Felix 25
This Francis could have connections amongst others to a Francis KING . Drumgooland of Derryneil ; owned 33 acres in 1876 LOI Ros Davies has others of interest
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rosdavies/SURNAMES/K/King.htm
Ros Davies has an introductory note on the surname saying many Kings are the anglized form of many Irish people with the surname McAree (Mac an Ri) had the name Anglicised to King

"I am looking for possible relatives of the late Henry Fairbairn (formerly of Glasgow?), but raised in Edinburgh. My grandfather was George (born 1906)-Henry's younger brother. He also had a sister Catherine, and a younger brother, Bill.
His mother was Mary Ann..nee McDonald, and his father- William (worked in the railways) and was from Greenock. They married in 1899. As far as I know the family moved Leith, Edinburgh in the early 1900s..not sure when till. I know Henry went onto marry and have a family, but nothing beyond that.
My grandfather married in 1950 and had 2 children.
He resided in Edinburgh rest of his life."

Have now been able to view the digitised version of the marriage certificate - thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction.
I've found out that Rose Anne King's father was William King and that she probably was born 1906 rather than 1907. One of the witnesses was a Dorothy King (presumably a sister?)
and that she was residing in Annesboro' in 1925 where she was born.
I've found a Rose Anne King and Dorothy King (daughters) abt right age for R-A living with their parents Willie ! and Rose Anne - would make sense - is it too much of a jump to think this is the right person!? They are in Moyad (Fofanny) which is v. near Castlewellen and Annsborough.
thanks!

Here are the census links-

Young Dorothy probably named for this one (granny?):

The, from PRONI's Will Extracts-
Administration of the Estate of Bernard King late of Moyad County Down Farmer who died 7 May 1906 granted at Belfast to William John King Farmer.
Probate of the Will of Dorethy King late of Moyad County Down Widow who died 8 November 1912 granted at Belfast to John Kelly and James Hughes Farmers.

Hi,
I see this post is a few years old now, so wasn't even sure whether to reply but you never know...
The previous quoted post from 2011, was done by myself when a few years ago I looked into it but got no response. Recently I have started to see what was out there again as I now know more and that my grandad's brother was Henry George Jordan Fairbairn (born 1903) in Glasgow and married a Dorothy King- unable to find a marriage listing for them on scotlandspeople I googled their names and found this thread, obviously discovering they married in Northern Ireland. So while I am not directly linked to Dorothy's side, I am to Henry's. My grandad was George Fairbairn and his mother Mary Ann Macdonald. I have looked further back before on that side before, but would need to look again to remember any names! :) Anyway, if OP does happen to see this then great. :) I don't know then if your friend's family moved back to Scotland or remained in Northern Ireland, as I am pretty sure Henry was in Scotland when he died.
