Hi, Jane Paterson, married to Anthony Paterson, maiden name Grecian/Grechian/Grecion, died about 5 Aug 1842, and is apparently buried in Old Reay churchyard. Somebody on Ancestry says she died at Kennachy, Reay. I can't find the death on ScotlandsPeople, using a wide range of search criteria. I wondered if anyone can help to find a record of this death please, and hopefully her parents' names.

Hi
Statutory Registration did not commence in Scotland until 1855, prior to that you are looking at Church records and they tend to be sparse. The link below has some information

Hi there
looks like it could well be. there is a site that has their headstone on it and i know he is a lovely guy that sends the photo to you. ;D Yours is on the 2nd page. It actually has her nee name above to which i found interesting.
There are other patersons on their also which may well be related - he may have other records for you, I am not sure, never hurts to ask when flicking him an email. Will still scout around and see what I can find...............

:)Hi Janine,
Thank you so much for that link. Amazing to see the old gravestones, and I've written to him about it. Maybe there aren't always old parish records for every BDM event, however I always keep trying!

From Caithness Monumental Inscriptions Vol3 - Reay Old - Jean Greeian, native of Northumberland 5.8.1842, 66, husband of Anthony Paterson, Borrowston. There are several other Patersons in neighbouring graves.

Thank you spittalhill. Can this be seen online, or is it only in a book?
