Hi all
I wonder if this is appropriate :-[because I could just order the cert, but as it is a side branch of my tree I am reluctant unless I have too.
If anybody could help or give me guidance on how to unravel this I would be most grateful.
My ancestor Arthur Richard Harris married Louisa Holloway at Croydon Surrey 4th qtr 1904 Volume 2a 605.
In the 1911 census they were living in Croydon and had two children Leslie Arthur and Frances Hilda. His wife was still called Louisa and she was born 1878 Leicester. When Arthur Richard died in 1949 in the will he left his money to Harriet Louisa Harris !!! However on checking her will when she died aged 83 in 1961 she left the money to Leslie Arthur and Frances Hilda so it looks like Louisa Holloway and Harriet Louisa Harris are the same people.
However on looking back I cannot find either Harriet Louisa Holloway or Louisa Holloway on any census so perhaps she was married before 1904 to someone else.
I am hoping details which will help unravel the mystery will be found on marriage cert if somebody here has access to it. If not any help would be greatly appreciated. ???

Sorry people
:-[ very embarrassed
I have now found a war record of said Arthur Richard Harris who says he married in St Martins Glasgow in 1902 as the address given on this record is same as Croydon address in 1911 and his children are same then this must be right. time to go to Scottish records.
Again many apologies
Terry

No problem - glad you've found a clue! The good news is that Scottish marriage records name both parents of the parties and are available for a few credits at the click of a button :)
