Title: Dainty Family
Post by: Canojajo on Wednesday 08 October 14 06:31 BST (UK)
I'm trying to find out more information about the Dainty in my family. All I have is my ggg-grandmother's info. Her name was Jane Dainty, she was born in 1830 in Maisemore, Gloucestershire, England she married George Oakey and they had a daughter (my gg-grandmother) Ellen Gertrude Oakey.

I'm interested in getting information (her parents, siblings info) to further my search in my family tree. I can't get further than Jane Dainty.

If anyone could help me in any way I'd appreciate it!

Welcome to Rootschat.

Do you have Jane/Georges Marriage Cert?
Does it not have her Fathers name/occp?

Welcome from me, too! ;D

I don't think Jane was truthful about her age?!
Or was it mistranscribed on the 1861 census? ::)

1851 census: Class: HO107; Piece: 1961; Folio: 27; Page: 17
Maisemore, Gloucestershire

Jones, Thomas  Head  M  31  Agent Labourer  b Maisemore
Jones, Ann  Wife  F  35  b Bedinton, Gloucestershire
Dainty, Jane  Daughter  F  11  b Maisemore
(Transcribed as Daniely?!)

1841 census: Class: HO107; Piece: 355; Book: 4; Folio: 8; Page: 9
Maisemore, Gloucestershire

Dainty, Thomas  M  50  Ag Lab
Dainty, Nancy  F  60
Dainty, John  M  22  Ag Lab
Dainty, Ann  F  24
Dainty, Jane  F  5 months           all born in county

Adding the usual 1841 caveats:
Adult ages were (usually!) rounded down to a multiple of 5 years.
No relationships, to Head of Household, are shown.
No birthplaces are given. Simply "Born in County? Y/N".

Jane Oakey 31
Fredrick W Oakey 2
Mary Jane Oakey 3/12

Thomas Jones 41
Ann Jones    46

Henry J Jones 6
Frederick T Jones 3
Jane Okey    21
Mary J Okey 11/12

Thank you all for your help. This is what I have and all other documents are similar... how do I access the documents?

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/2DQT-MP7

And here they are listed as O'rey

http://search.ancestry.ca/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=uki1881&h=6243331&ti=5543&indiv=try&gss=pt&ssrc=pt_t71332794_p38233498553_kpidz0q3d38233498553z0q26pgz0q3d32768z0q26pgplz0q3dpid

There is another document, I can't seem to find it, it says O'rey as well but it was corrected to Okey. And then another document that said Okey and changed to Oakey.
